Purple Lemonade

Updated: Oct 18, 2024

People tend to stop and notice when a weed strain is as visually striking as the Purple Lemonade strain. This eye-catching strain is a sight to see that also comes with incredible effects and delectable flavors. By no means a freshman, It’s been on the scene for over a decade, and it still manages to turn heads with its vivid colors and alluring fragrance.

Despite being available for years, there’s still some mystery surrounding the exact genetics of Purple Lemonade, only adding to this intriguing strain’s reputation. Although some information may be hard to access, ILGM’s research team works hard to keep all our strain information relevant and accurate.

Purple Lemonade genetics

The Purple Lemonade strain, also known as Purple Lemonade Auto, was meticulously crafted and cultivated by FastBuds. They combined an unknown Citrus strain (perhaps Cali Orange) with an unknown purple strain, leaving the best qualities of both in one plant. They then crossbred that phenotype with ruderalis, a subspecies of the cannabis plant discovered in the 1920s. The result is the Purple Lemonade weed strain, with auto-flowering abilities included.

There are a lot of purple weed strains out there, most notably Grandaddy Purple and Purple Haze. Still, given Purple Lemonade strains’ high indica ratio, its periwinkle parent strain may even be Purple Kush. Many growers can be secretive about their strains in an effort to maintain the strains’ authenticity. Sometimes, this secrecy makes it difficult to determine the true origins of certain strains. Despite this, our research team did the work to keep all information accurate.

Is Purple Lemonade indica or sativa?

The Purple Lemonade cannabis strain is an Indica-dominant hybrid strain with an indica-to-sativa ratio of 70:30. Many people associate indica (or “in-da-couch”) with heavily sedated highs and the feeling of being body-stoned. In contrast, sativa highs are more energized head-highs. Hybrid strains, like Purple Lemonade, provide the consumer with a combination of both highs.
