Growing
Jamaican strains are easy to grow. Being around for more than thousands of years, they have become durable. Not fazed by extreme weather conditions, growers can experiment with lighting or growing methods without sacrificing the plant’s health.
A true Sativa, Jamaican grows extremely tall. As such, the plant should be topped early to keep it short. Otherwise, it may outgrow the confines of the grow room.
However, there are two main problems. First is that seeds of the strain are extremely difficult to find even in their own region. And second is it takes an average of 21 weeks or 5 months before any one of the Jamaican strains can flower. But, with tender love and care, the rare bud will award its cultivators an abundant yield.
A week or two into its blooming phase, the Jamaican will produce forest green colas with wispy trichome covered buds. Accenting its color are brown pistils instead of the usual orange that commercial strains have.
Flowering Time
Indoors
It takes about 21 weeks for the Jamaican to flower. Once it does, growers can harvest between 10 and 12 ounces of buds per square meter.
Outdoors
Jamaican strain outperforms themselves in tropical climates. With minimal upkeep, breeders can expect it to flower by November and yield up to 12 ounces of buds per plant.
