Dreadlock Strain

Dreadlock comes from Canada and appears to be a cross between an Equatorial Sativa and a Middle Eastern Indica. The name of the strain itself has nothing to do with its traits or effects. Instead, it is likely inspired by the frosty orange hairs that seem to dangle a little.

Information about Dreadlock:

The strain, being a perfect split, brings the best traits of both its Sativa and Indica sides. Depending on how much one uses, its effects can be potent and yet gentle, or it hits very hard.

Effects

Almost as soon as the first toke, Dreadlock ushers in an intense buzz that uplifts users. In fact, it is precisely because of its mood-altering properties that have made it quite popular with recreational users and more so for use in social settings. Considered as an excellent party strain, it causes people to be more sociable and talkative. Careful though, some secrets are meant to be kept that way, and the last thing anyone wants to happen is to blurt them out.

Used in small quantity, most users tend to have a slight tingling and energizing sensation all over the body. As the strain helps boost mental clarity, so do users feel a heightened sense of focus. All that is great because it means that the users remain in complete control of themselves and can do their tasks.

Meanwhile, the Indica traits of the strain also work its way to the body. It induces physical relaxation but does not cause laziness or lethargy.

At this point, the effects of Dreadlock have been fast and potent but still gentle enough. If users are to use more, then the strain will rear its other side, the one that takes all these effects to a whole new level.

By overindulging, the strain not only kicks in fast but extremely hard. Along with the more intense cerebral high, its Indica traits also puts users in a couch-lock. Even so, it does not seem to cause people to have a psychedelic experience or result in mental confusion.

Fragrance

For all its touted potency and the extreme effects that it can induce, none of that is evident when it comes to its fragrance. It has the earthy freshness with a hint of fuel that becomes more pronounced once users break the buds. A mild hint of sage adds to its already pleasing aroma.

Flavors

As its aroma carries over, the taste of pine is adding to the blend makes it quite a delight. Unfortunately, it can be rough on the throat. People using a bong should not experience the same roughness as those who roll and smoke the joint.

Adverse Reaction

Dreadlock does not appear to cause much of the unwanted reactions that are more common with many other strains sharing the same traits or potency. For instance, there has been no report if it causes people to feel more anxious or paranoid. However, that is not to say that it does not have any other effects. In fact, like all cannabis, it does cause dry mouth and eyes.

Used in moderation, these adverse effects can cause a little discomfort. However, as users begin to use more, it results in eye pressure and red eyes. These are not much of a concern except that it can be uncomfortable.

Medical

The most significant benefit of Dreadlock for the medical cannabis users is due to the same effects that make it excellent for recreational users. Because it can alter the mood and bring a sense of happiness, it means that it will have already taken care of stress. In other words, this strain is an excellent stress-reliever.

Besides stress, the same traits also help people manage their emotion and feelings. Apparently, it is hard for people with depression to climb out of the darkness they found themselves in, but with Dreadlock, it becomes more manageable.

Growing

Dreadlock can produce two phenotypes. About the only difference between the two is in their structure. Otherwise, their characteristics and other traits remain pretty much the same. It is also a resilient plant which makes it ideal for beginners. Not to mention, its being resistant to pests and molds should make tending an easier task.

The plant grows with one central cola and tends to be a little on the bushier side. Once the buds start to form, one thing to keep in mind is to make sure that it does not cause the stems to break as they can be quite heavy.

Flowering Time

Indoors

The best way to cultivate Dreadlock indoor is to use soil as its growing medium. However, it should also thrive well in hydroponics. It is also highly adaptable to the screen of green training method. A conservative estimate of its yield per square meter falls in the range of 8 to 12 ounces.

Outdoors

From all indications, the plant should thrive well in semi-humid to warm climate. Flowering time should occur between the second and third week of October. Each Dreadlock plant should also be able to produce at least 12 ounces of buds.
