Fragrance

Surprisingly, the scent profile isn’t banana-heavy. There are certainly hints of banana, but other sundae ingredients take center stage. The primary scents are tropical and cherry, with cream and undertones of citrus. The Tangie genes are clearly noticeable.

Flavors

Like the scent profile, look for sweet, creamy flavors and hints of banana. There are stronger citrus and fruity flavors, along with a hint of nutty, earthy undertones on the exhale.

Adverse Reactions

Cottonmouth and dry eyes are the most commonly reported side effects. Some people say Banana Split will cause a cough if you’re not prepared. Outside of those, the biggest trick to the Banana Split is not overindulging. This strain of weed does not mess around. Start slow, and the Banana Split will treat you kindly.

Medical

Banana Split may have been created as a dessert smoke, but that’s by no means all it’s good for. The full-body buzz and the euphoria are great for what ails you.

The most significant benefits of this strain are its sedative and appetite-inducing effects. For people who suffer from nausea, insomnia, or anxiety, Banana Split weed is excellent for calming down and eating without stress.

Because of how relaxing this strain is, many use it to reduce chronic pain or inflammation. Tension headaches and migraines are also two examples of reasons people have used Banana Split. This strain keeps the pain away for hours, longer than other strains, without needing to use more.

More than one review of this strain includes plenty of praise for this strain’s evenly balanced effects. People dealing with chronic conditions appreciate the mental energy and the relaxing effects that both last for hours. Regular marijuana users value the long-lasting effects.

Because of the high THC content, this strain is not always the right choice for someone new to cannabis. However, for experienced users or those with significant pain, it can be a lifesaver.

Growing

Banana Split is a cross between Tangie and Banana Sherbet. There are two phenotypes of Banana Split: a 60/40 sativa/indica hybrid, and a 40/60 sativa/indica hybrid. Because the ratios are so close, the effects remain very similar. The most significant difference is that the sativa strain takes slightly longer to flower.

This strain is a beauty to grow. It isn’t prone to any major diseases, and it’s easy to keep to a reasonable size. Without training, plants will grow about six feet tall, but super cropping, ScrOG growing, or low-stress training will all keep plants shorter. Expect a moderate amount of stretch once you do hit flowering.

Light is critical for growing weed, regardless of strain. Making sure your Banana Split plants receive enough light will ensure you get the huge harvests the strain is known for. That’s why training your plants into wide, even canopies is such a successful strategy. You get more light to more bud sites – leading to more weed per plant.

The best way to get the most flavor out of your Banana Split weed is by flushing their growth medium starting a few weeks before harvest. Because the buds are so big, they tend to harbor unnecessary nutrients. That leads to unpleasant, chemical tastes and a harsher smoke. Stop using nutrients and start flushing the soil two weeks before your intended harvest date, and your plants will use those stored nutrients. In the end, you’ll get a smooth smoke without anything extra to harsh your vibes.

Flowering Time

Indoors

Inside, your plants will flower in about nine weeks. Of the two phenotypes, the sativa strain will take slightly longer to get to flower. Indoors you can yield up to 1.5oz per square foot.

Outdoors

Outside, northern hemisphere growers can expect to harvest at the beginning of October. Banana Split has average yields. Under suitable conditions, it can produce up to 16 ounces per plant.

Origin

  1. Tangie
